The systemic cause of most dental disease is not taught at dental schools. The emphasis is on mechanical correction. Dr. Page found the systemic cause of many dental problems to be slight endocrine problems that are easily corrected. Furthermore, the correction greatly helped or cured  associated medical problems.

Since he treated several thousand patients it became easy to associate certain systemic problems with various endocrine patterns. His system was to add to underactive glands and to take away from the overactive ones and it became known as body chemistry balancing.

Some of the associations that Page could make are:

over active anterior pituitary gland ----periodontal disease, arteriosclerosis, cancer, diabetes

over active posterior pituitary gland ----decreased ability to handle stress

under active posterior pituitary gland----- depression, manic depression, diabetes, periodontal disease, spontaneous abortion

excessive gynicity—cancer, cardiac insufficiency

excessive andricity – early heart attacks, high blood pressure

Today there are many diseases that have an associated glandular component which is not recognized or treated.. For example many type II diabetes cases have an associated deficiency of the posterior pituitary gland or over activity of the anterior pituitary gland. Many depression and manic depression cases have an associated under activity of the posterior pituitary gland as also do cases that are diagnosed as ADD or ADHD but which are really manic depressives. Many high blood pressure cases are related to hypofunction of the posterior pituitary gland and/or excessive andricity.

These are the glaring examples that are increasingly evident in my files. Page knew this also and he knew it first.
